The coastal area from Kobe to Nishinomiya is the largest sake-producing region in Japan, and has been called “Nada-Gogo (The Five Villages of Nada)” since old times. Three of the five villages--Nishi-go, Mikage-go and Uozaki-go--are located within the city of Kobe. Additionally, there is a unique and attractive art museum uptown, and Hyogo Prefectural Museum of Art in HAT Kobe (Kobe New Eastern City Centre) has been renovated since the Great Hanshin-Awaji Earthquake.
